For almost thirty years, the DRC has worked hard to support services and programs in the State of New Hampshire that value all people and support their rights to dignity, freedom, choice and quality of life. However, there is so much more to do!
-
Children with disabilities continue to fall short of meeting their potential because they do not receive an adequate education or other services and drop out of school at twice the rate of other children.
-
Adults with developmental disabilities continue to live with aging parents and languish on wait lists for community services.
-
Individuals with mental illness do not have adequate community housing or employment opportunities.
-
People with physical disabilities continue to experience barriers to community activities such as dining out, voting and other civic participation and shopping.
-
People with a wide range of disabilities continue to be discriminated against in the work place or cannot find a job at all.
-
Abuse and neglect continues to be a significant problem for many individuals with disabilities
