5-31-07 Update: Yesterday the Finance Committee voted 6-0 that the bill ought to pass! It will be going before the full senate for the final vote on June 6 or 7.

5-25-2007 Update: Yesterday the bill passed the full Senate and has now been sent to the finance committee, where it may face an uphill battle.
You can advocate with the finance committee:
Contact members of the Finance Committee (you can find them here, in the left hand column, under Senate Committees). Tell them how important this bill is for individuals and families with severe disabilities. Explain to them that access to necessary supplies such as disposable incontinence pants makes it possible to keep loved ones at home and out of facilities.

5-7-2007 Update: HB 826-FN is scheduled to be presented to the Senate HHS Committee on May 8th. If the Senate passes this bill, it will ensure that anyone on Medicaid whose physician prescribes adult incontinence products will receive them. It will also help define “medically necessary”. It is imperative that you share your experiences if you have had difficulty obtaining such products so the Senate understands why this bill is so important.

4-6-2007 Update: HB 826, with amendments, was unanimously voted ought to pass by the HHS Committee on March 20. The amendments improve the bill and include language providing for coverage of disposable incontinence supplies "to individuals who have a medical condition resulting in incontinence, as documented by a physician." See the amendments here.
